Dr. Kripa Baskaran
Dr. Kripa Baskaran is a celebrated Bharatanatyam artist, educator, choreographer, and mentor whose career spans more than two decades of teaching, performance, and cultural service. Her passion for Indian classical dance began at the age of seven and has since evolved into a lifelong commitment to preserving and sharing the rich traditions of Bharatanatyam.
Trained in the renowned Pandanallur, Tanjore, and Vazhuvoor styles, she combines the strengths of these classical schools into a teaching approach that balances technical excellence with expressive artistry. Every student at Natyarpana is encouraged to develop discipline, confidence, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the cultural heritage of Indian classical dance.
As the Founder and Artistic Director of Natyarpana Dance Company, Dr. Baskaran has guided hundreds of students through their artistic journeys—from beginners taking their first steps to advanced performers preparing for prestigious Arangetrams. Her mentorship emphasizes not only mastery of movement but also character, integrity, and lifelong learning.
Beyond the classroom, she has presented Bharatanatyam on numerous stages, collaborated with cultural organizations, and continues to inspire audiences through performances that celebrate tradition while remaining meaningful for contemporary communities.
"Bharatanatyam is more than a dance form—it is a lifelong journey of discipline, devotion, expression, and self-discovery."
